Assignment 1-2
Popular culture is anything that can make you think of a certain product or service. There a symbols, images, characters, or sounds that help you recognize a product or service. These symbols will make you remember the product and hopefully help you to decide to buy or use that product or service.
Popular culture is relevant to businesses because if a business can get individuals to recognize their product or service just by a symbol or sound then individuals will tend to remember the product or service for a longer period of time. Every business likes to see individuals singing their theme song or just talking about their commercials. This makes the product or service not only recognizable by the person singing or talking about the product but also to everyone that they come into contact with and communicate about the product or service with.
The gecko for the Geico Insurance commercials is an example of popular culture. The gecko is a good example because he is very recognizable as the little lizard in the Geico commercials. Everyone seems to take notice of the Geico commercials and even can explain what happens in the commercials. Also many times individuals will notice when Geico releases a new commercials and even get excited about it.

  1. It is definitely his voice. There is something about that British accent that makes me want to listen to him. But he needs to lose the boss on his commercials he is cramping his style.
